Who We Are

Edo SUBEB was established as a Parastatal as enshrined in the National UBE Act of 2004. The Edo State UBE law was signed in 2005. The UBE Act 2004 makes provision for basic education comprising Early Childhood Care and Development Education (ECCDE), Primary and Junior Secondary Education.

The Board has a sole responsibility to ensure quality learning through teacher professional development, provision of adequate learning materials, school infrastructure and strengthening quality assurance.

Edo SUBEB has 18 Field Offices called Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs) with one in each Local Government Area. The LGEA is managed by  the Education Secretaries who are full time and are currently playing the role of the heads of the Local Education Authorities. Head of Sections and Field Officers at the LGEA function to ensure the effective management and monitoring of school operations.
