In response to the recent disengagement of its external consultant, the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has produced week-by-week scripted lesson plans for Early Childhood Care Development and Education (ECCDE) through Junior Secondary School (JSS).
Over 50 educators from Edo South, Central, and North districts convened for a two-day workshop to finalize these plans, aligning content with the National Curriculum for Basic Education.

Each lesson content development officer was equipped with a tablet, schemes of work, textbooks, and supplementary resources.“We provided our officers with tablets and all necessary instructional materials to enhance speed, accuracy and efficiency,” said Mr. Dele Salami, Desk Officer for Curriculum Development. “This approach strengthens SUBEB’s capacity and reduces reliance on external providers.”

Hon. Ebanehita Sonia Omozane, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, lauded the team’s dedication: “I commend every educator who contributed their skills and insights. This transition underscores our commitment to sustainability and localized expertise.” Deployment has not yet begun but is scheduled for the upcoming week once schools resume from the mid-term break.
The Planning, Research, and Statistics (PRS) team is finalizing formatting, ensuring that teachers receive uniform, high-quality lesson scripts digitally to their devices.
As deployment starts, SUBEB will conduct periodic reviews and gather feedback from teachers and students to continually refine instructional delivery.
