On Friday, 9 May 2025, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Barrister (Mrs.) Onomen Briggs led a focused inspection of ongoing infrastructure projects at four primary schools in Esan land. Accompanied by SUBEB’s Director of Planning and Projects and the Director of School Support Services, the Chairman reviewed progress against key milestones and reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to the Governor’s strategic vision to deliver high-quality learning environments across Edo State.

At Eko Iyobhebhe Primary School and Egbele Primary School in Irrua, contractors have nearly completed a new four-classroom block. Workers are also finalizing perimeter fencing at both sites, which will bolster school security and safeguard pupils and staff. The Chairman emphasized that these enhancements are crucial not only for safety but also for creating an atmosphere more conducive to teaching and learning.
All major works at Udomi Primary School have been finalized, marking a significant achievement for the Board’s programme of school upgrades. The school now features a modern five-classroom block with an administrative office and attached toilets, alongside a refurbished three-classroom unit complete with its own office space. A six-unit chamber toilet installation is in its finishing stages, and old, unsafe buildings have been demolished to make way for new child-friendly furniture—all while classes continue uninterrupted.

Meanwhile, at Uwessan Primary School in Irrua, construction of a six-classroom block with an integrated office is progressing steadily. The Chairman inspected the sturdy foundation and brickwork, noting that the project remains on schedule despite the current term being in session.Throughout the tour, the Chairman underscored SUBEB’s rigorous quality-assurance protocols and ongoing site monitoring. Assurance was given that all fencing, classroom construction, and renovation works would be fully delivered and operational, ensuring that every child in Edo State benefits from safe, modern, and inspiring learning environments.
