The Edo State Universal Basic Education Board (Edo SUBEB) is a government agency established in 2005 under the Edo State UBE Law. Our existence aligns with the National UBE Act of 2004, which ensures the right of every Nigerian child to receive free, compulsory, and quality basic education.
Edo SUBEB oversees 18 field offices called Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs), serving each Local Government Area within the state.
Our commitment to improving educational outcomes led to a recent restructuring process. This transformation moves us beyond infrastructure alone and prioritizes teacher development, adequate learning materials, and strong quality assurance measures. We strive to create a strong educational foundation for all students in Edo State.
The Edo State Government is committed to ensuring that every child continues learning, even during unprecedented circumstances like the coronavirus. That’s why we’ve launched EdoBEST@Home, a revolutionary program that keeps students engaged and on track.
Building upon the success of EdoBEST, this initiative provides:

The Edo State Government aims to ensure that all schools, both urban and rural, have an adequate number of qualified teachers.
Transfers may be initiated by the government to correct situations where some areas have a higher concentration of teachers than others.
Teachers can also request transfers although, approval is not guaranteed. The decision will depend on the staffing needs of both the current and desired schools.
If you are requesting a transfer, be prepared to provide a strong justification, such as a family relocation or significant health concern.
Please understand that the transfer process can take some time.
